Transmission Oil Capacity

My transmission spec calls for .8 litres of fluid.  Because of the method I use to fill it,it is difficult to measure accurately.  In the past I know vehicles were designed such that when you filled a transmission or rear end it would be full when the fluid reached the fill hole.  Is this true for the R65?

Yes and no.

As I found out, the final drive can have too much oil it in when using the bottom of the threads as a fill mark.

I still haven't drained mine and put in a measured amount, but on a recent all-day highway run, mine made a mess.
It seems my 20 minute commute is not enough to get things in too much of a lather... ::)
Maybe I will get it changed this weekend.

The transmission may have more room for error, but one of Duane Ausherman's favorite sayings, is "a bit too low is better than too full".
