Yet another member from Sydney!

Wollongong, actually... close enough :)

I have recently acquired a 1984 r65ls. I started riding 6 years ago ago on a Vespa PX200e, had that for ages until I bought a k1100lt for some touring last year. I really like BMW motorcycles they have more elegance than other bikes I've seen and tried.  I really wanted an airhead but didn't think i'd be able to afford a decent one!

What I really wanted was a r65LS, I remember first seeing one a while back and it made me weak at the knees. Its exactly what a bike should look like, a low flying aircraft or mechanical spaceship. So eventually I got rid of the brick, it was lovely but heavy around town, and got myself the LS.

So far its been exactly what I expected: a joy to ride, light and rumbly but well mannered.

Anyway greetings to you all! I look forward to sharing stories and experiences with you lot and possibly meeting some of you on the road.

Ride safe!

Welcome, V'biased. That's a slick LS you've scored. Nicely played.

As you're likely already aware, there's many Aussie R65ers hereabouts so you should have no worries finding mates for a ride adventure.

Welcome to the forum I'm a newbie here myself and live in south west Sydney. Looks like you got a nice LS there, I just picked up an '83 Airhead a few months back and am really loving the bike.  Went for a run down your way a couple of weeks ago through the national park down to Stanwell Park a lovely ride with plenty of twisty bends and no problem to the old girl. Unfortunately there was a bad motorcycle accident on one of the bends near Bald Hill, don't know what happened but saw the riders bike and gear at the side of the road, police and SES were there directing traffic and heard later the guy had died which is really sad.

Thank you all for your warm welcome!

Haven't braved the nasho on the r65 yet. The last few times have scared me off, came in way too hot on a corner and nearly hit a bush turkey on the k1100lt. Got a flat and stranded on the vespa, it had a spare tyre but I never kept it pumped. Oops.

I do think it is a bit dangerous. It seems to me that it is either chock full of sunday drivers and boy racers or covered in twigs and wildlife. I do love the ride through so I'll have to take you guys up on the offer soon.

This weekend went on a brilliant ride with my gf: albion park --> jamberoo --> kiama --> the farm along jamberoo rd and grand pacific drive. Perfect for the little boxer.

Can't wait for Christmas, will ride up to the north coast+north west, if i can get the bike sought-ed out in time.

Hi From Cronulla. (Which is a Southern Suburb of Sydney)
This is my second post so I can stick up a picture later on.
I took the R65 LS (I think 1984) for it's first run with me this afternoon. I haven't ridden in 25yrs except for my Stay Upright course a year ago. I'm running too wide on corners, braking & gear changes clumsy but better than I though, actually.
Anyway, I think I'd like to use higher bars. The ones fitted are quite flat but look great. Can anyone give me a pick of the standard handlebars? Thanks :)

Jamberoo?? My grandparents used to have a farm in Jamberoo. Loved the place - learnt to drive a tractor there.  :)

This is not a good picture, but I really don't want anyone else viewing her anyway. I'm in love.  :D

With good reason! It would have to be one of the most ideallic places I've been. Green rolling hills, little winding streets comletely shaded by trees. We thought we had stumbled into an old episode of heartbeat!

Graeme, that is one TIDY LS. Looks fantastic in red! Nice find :)

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm going to get a National Parks pass for it so I can run & stop through the Royal. I was down there about sixmonths ago & they were booking all the bikes at Watamolla. >:(

So be warned  :)
