Boots?

Ditto what Rob said...except I didn't get mine until 1998 (I think).  I've used ShoeGoo on them after I heated them up too much by the campfire and they seem to be in pretty good shape again.  

I didn't see the other choice - Cowboy boots, with rubber soles, of course.  
Then on the dirt bikes, we used our hiking boots.  

Graham invested in a custom made pair of Bates boots back when he first started riding and still uses them.

The boots I wear when I tour are BMW and look a lot like those Rob pictured.  Very comfortable and on-sale about 5 years ago for about $130 IIRC...
