Reply button missing in sections

I was trying to respond to Mike V's R65 restoration in the technical section and noticed that there is no reply button there...is there a reason or has it been lost in space?

That seems to happen now and again.  I'll bet if you close out and go back in it might show up.  Justin?  Do you know what happens?

I notice it's that way in other threads within that section.  I believe that section was set-up as a reference, not as a discussion, so maybe only a moderator can post there.  I think some of those were moved into the Technical FAQ from other sections.  I bet Rob can tell us.

Well, I see the Reply button and I see a reply composition box at the bottom of the thread.

The thread IS NOT locked.

I don't know if I can see these things because I am a moderator.  Please look again and report back.

Thank you.

Nope, it's not there.  I think it's because you're a moderator.

---edit---
If you notice, Rob, you and Mike V (the originator of the thread) are the only ones that have posted.  There's a brand new thread there as well about battery life - can't post to it either.

Noticed that rob650 just posted a battery question in the FAQ's section. No reply button so he's not likely to get a response.

Landlubber John, did you try to post in the Tech/FAQ's section or the BMW Technical Q&A section?

I'm going to move rob650's thread to the Tech section (thanks Bob R.).*

Justin would have to be the one to answer the question about replying in the FAQ section.

It could be Mike V. and I posted in that thread before I moved it to the FAQ section.

*edit:  O.K. - who moved it?

I sent rob650 a PM advising he repost his battery question to the Tech Q&A section.

Anyone can create an article in the FAQ section but only creator, admin, or mod can reply to anything.  I didn't envision an FAQ being open for discussion but rather a factual document for reference purposes.

This is how the FAQ section is setup on a number of other forums I visit - the FAQs is for 1-way transfer of info/answers, primarily, and not ongoing dialog.

Maybe we need to put something to that effect in the FAQs ?!?

....OK, I see now that the FAQ section is a compilation of things and not another open section, "we do not know , what we do not know"....thanks fellas......I will try my best not to be so dumb in future, but I doubt it.......after all, I am only a bike rider.....
