keys for saddlebags

in the "crack" thread there're a number of sources for keys; problem is, I don't know what I have. They're rectangular black bags with "BMW", not the rondel, 1984 vintage most likely, and the one key I have, round head, no identifiers, is stamped "066". What should I be looking for, and who is likely to have it?

The dealer got a laugh out of my search, anyway. By the way, the partskid says parts for R65 are found listed under "Mobile Heritage"; which I think is a euphemism for "old". Or "olde", if it were British.

It is a separate parts program where the current program is called the "ETK" the other is the "HTK"  

If you already have a key just find a good locksmith and have them make you a copy.  If your dealer finds humor in your problems finding parts I would stop giving them ANY of your money...  You have the BMW bags which I have never had a pair of.  All Krauser bags take weird looking keys and the integrated bags and top-case on the mono-shock bikes use the same blank as the ignition, etc.

Sounds like you do have the BMW factory bags. I've been looking around for keys for mine but have found none. If you come across a source I need A [041] key. I have none to take to a locksmith and the one old time locksmith I had cut me spare ign keys took a look at the bags and couldn't help.

I remember "Bob's" having a section on keys.  You might give them a call.  
I've considered getting a spare set for my BMW bags to keep me from losing the current set (mine has different keys for the two bags 051 & 052).  You know, if you have two sets you'll never lose one.  If you only have a single set it's only a matter of time........

They apparently are the BMW bags; Krauser says they're not theirs for sure. I tried one locksmith I use a lot, he said the keys are stamped out and a dealer might have one but don't hold my breath; in any event, short of a fairly massive machining operation, he couldn't make me one without a blank. I suspect one could be made from solid stock, but I'm not that desperate.

All ideas welcomed, though.

Unlike Harley dealers, BMW dealers do admit to having made motorcycles before the current model; that's refreshing (what is it with HD? they prattle endlessly about their heritage and being the oldest/first {side note; Royal Enfield, for one, made motorcycles about 10 years before Mssr's Harley and Davidson and they're even closer to their roots, aside from now being made 5 or 6 time zones away from Reddich}, but won't work on anything older than the current incarnation. Try and order Evo parts....)

There is definitely another thread on this subject - I remember taking pictures of where you can find you key code on your latches.  And if you know your code, there was a link (I think to snowbum's site?) that gave the equivalent BMW part number.

I called them and just got a set of 051/052 keys for my BMW saddlebags from "Bob's".  Four days & a little over $10 total, plus shipping.
They work!

Well, shucks; the dealer says the Snowbum parts numbers are NLA, I've tried the other suggestions here, and even Bob's can't get them either. A file and a chunk of steel might be in my future. Any other suggestions?

Maybe a lock smith could take out your old locks and put in some new ones that fit and provide keys with them.  I think I ended up doing that on something on my bike, either the Windjammer locking compartment cover or my Perry Scott hard bags.

These luggage locks can literally be opened with a hair clip. Personally I use a 150 key for my old BMW bags and it also works on the old krausers, I bought without keys. A 324, locks them both onto the racks too.

I'm not sure why they even bother with different keys, they all seem to respond to a bent piece of wire. Nonetheless, in the interest of completeness, I believe I may have actually found the right key! more as this develops.
