Britta gets a new home....
« on: February 28, 2010, 04:09:31 PM »
Well, today was the day I turned over the keys of Britta, my R65, to Steve Lehman (NC Steve).  I had a pleasant, if chilly, ride of about 150 miles to Morganton, NC where Pattimarie and I met Steve and his daughter, Katie, who agreed to ride with him so Steve could ride Britta back home to Winston-Salem.   Here's a few pics of the event:

Here's Britta as she sits outside the restaurant, awaiting her new (and only 4th) owner.

My wife Pattimarie took a couple of "artsy" photos from one of the mirrors in our car as we stood outside talking about the bike.  I look like I'm saying to myself, "Please, Britta, don't conk out on him until he at least makes it back home."

And in this pic, Steve appears to be mumbling to himself, "Geez, do I really NEED another bike?"

In this one, Steve is attaching his tag, saying, "I know, I know, no refunds, no exchanges, all sales final."

And of course, we have the all-important, "gentlemanly handshake and turnover of the keys".

And, last, but not least, Steve is ready to ride away on his not-so-new, but oh-so-loved, 1984 R65, with a mere 140,000 miles on the clock.  Britta does appear to be smiling, too!   ;)

This was the second R65 I've owned, and may not be the last, who knows?

I have enjoyed my time on this forum so much over the past 6 years.  I've met some really, really fine folks, too (like Steve)!  I may not be as frequent a visitor to this forum in the future, but I hope to retain the friendship of all whom I've had the pleasure and honor of knowing.  You folks are as special and unique as the R65 itself!

It's a National Cycle "Plexi-Fairing 3" that I got from JC Whitney.  I think I paid something like $159.95 for it, and it's a GREAT windshield, too!  I highly recommend it!   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Do hang around John - you'll have honorary R65 status for years to come in my opinion.  Hope to catch up with ya again at some more rallies in the future!

The ever-patient teacher, John shares his boundless mechanical wisdom.
"No no no, dammit, it's righty tighty, lefty loosey! Jeez!"

I bow before the mighty R65, begging forgiveness.

"Now, you see this big flat clear thingie? You want to be sure that's always facing the front!"

Bundle up, it's cold in them thar hills!

And that looks like a beautiful tank - you don't need to cover it up!  :D   [smiley=beehive.gif]

And it is, overall, except for the top.
Please note the large flat tank bag, which went on immediately and does a good coverup job..
But, I will find me a cover! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
