TX Burt under the knife
« on: December 06, 2009, 02:35:22 PM »
Heads up, folks.

One of our R65 own, TX Burt -out of Plano, Texas- is scheduled for back surgery on Dec 8th... this coming Tuesday.  He and his wife Patsy had to cancel their run to the Lake O' the Pines Rally in October under doctor's orders.

Keep a good thought for him. Hope he will check in during his rehab and let us know how he goes.

My best wishes for him. I hope this turns out OK. Back surgery is serious business. Please pass along my concerns.

Thanks to all for their prayers and wishes!  Had surgery Tues. AM, did pretty well for three days in hospital, and checked out Friday.... Then alll hell seemed to break loose on Saturday (just when I thought I was on the mend!)... But it's been a bit better every day since. Patsy just ran into a lady iat the supermarket who had had the sae surgery at the same age, and that aftr 13 moths it's getting where he can walk somewhat normally: My goal is still a 2-3-day ride (no camping, no stairs) in March 2010!  [smiley=bmw_smiley.gif]

Hey, Burt. Glad you're home. Sounds as if Patsy will have you on a short leash for awhile. Your Texas home boys are available should you need some strong backs/weak minds around the ranchito.

Glad to hear you're improving.  Don't buy that sidecar rig just yet!  Like Monte says, call on us if you need a hand, but I'm just saying if you need furniture moved, Monte has to be the one to walk backwards!

Glad your home and on the mend!!! Too damn cold to ride now any way. I think by March you will be eager to ride and the weather will be willing. Scotty

Hurrah!!!  ;D  Terrific news!

Glad to hear your riding plans. Judging from weather (3 days unbroken fog) I saw in Houston this past weekend, you haven't missed great riding conditions down there. (We drove 2800 miles round-trip in 4 days for a wedding, about 1/2 in fog or rain. But that's material for another thread sometime.)

Keep up the good work—but not too fast.

Things are finally looking up, though I'm still taking enough Hdyrocodone to kep my vision blurryi in any direction. Today I finally unpacked and assembled (mostly) my No. 1 Christmas gift-- A Yellow Nolan N102. The color oouldn't be a better match... Think I'm in love, and I've asked Clays Radio Svce (newly located in Weatherford, TX) for a quote on installing either a wired or bluetooth audio setup. By the time the weather improves a bit (maybe 30 degrees) I may be ready for the road again. Thanks for all your good words of encougement, over the past few weeks!

Burt!

I'm so glad things have worked out so well.  I've been off the forum for awhile and didn't know about your surgery.  But it sounds like you are feeling pretty good if you're putting together a new helmet.   ;)  And Yellow to boot!   8-)

Well, the Hydrocodone does help out the good feeling.   :D

May you heal fast.  Just take it easy on yourself.

I'm back at work, as of this week... Still withdrawing from five or six weeks on codeine, etc.  I have sat on the R65, even started it a couple of times, but will wait another week before actually riding.  Even then, it looks like I'll be confined to using the side stand, for a while-- although I have a co-worker (Triumph rider) who's always willing to put it on the center stand for me if our arrival times at work coincide.
