looking for valves

Yesterday I pulled the heads off my 1980 R65 40K miles because of excessive valve clatter on the right side.  Found that exhaust valves had closed up since last set 4k ago and that the pushrods were wearing against head gasket on the right side only.  Checked and head gasket is installed on the correct side, any suggestions on the reassembly?
Took heads to local machine shop today and machinist saw no problem replacing and grinding valves and keeping the old seats and valve guides.  The exhaust valves are a little thin around the edges.  Now I am looking for a complete set of valves (38mm intake, 34mm exhaust) but they all seem to be in Germany.  Does anyone have a sugestion as to where I might find a set in the USA?  
Also I usually get my parts mailorder from Bob's BMW and I have gotten good parts and service, but was wondering if any of y'all know of a better source?

Call these guys and ask for either Mark or Marco. I have purchased a number of semi-oddball R65 bits from these folks and have never, lucky me, never had an item "in Germany at the Muthership" or placed on B/O.

I got my valves from Bob's.

If the seats are original, you really should consider replacing them.
If they get replaced, make sure the machinist knows what he is doing.

To avoid having to do this twice, I had everything replaced, by an excellent machinist out in California who has been working on airhead parts for years.

Rob, thanks for the recomendation.  Bob's rig was someting to see, I think it probably looks better than a can of PBR on Friday afternoon.  Maybe?

I planned to do the valves quick and dirty to get back riding ASAP but Bob's will take two weeks to get original valves from across the pond.  So much for 'get her done'.  I will continue to look for valves local tomorrow but I guess I'll have to bite the bullet pertty soon.  I do plan to redo the valves, guides and seats next time but I hope that won't come for another 40 - 60 K miles.

I will file Bob Grauer in my vendor file for future reference.  Thanks!

Jusgus, I used "Black Diamond" valves in the R100 when the heads were re-done.  They were highly recommended by the shop I had them refurbed at.

I guess I have absorbed a couple of oz's of BBP but I like to drink PBRs.

Called Re-pyscle today. They didn't have the valves as new parts but said that they could send me some good as new used ones.  Thanks for the info I will let you know how it turns out.

Thanks for the link to Hammersley, called and they too can get the valves but would have to order them from Deutschland.

I did note that Hammersley's price on the exhaust valve was $47.50 vs $55 at Bob BMW, a point that I will keep in mind when I get ready to make another order.

Bob's BMW suggested that I use Black Diamond but the stems on the exhaust valves are different from the originals and new guides have to be installed.  The present guides are in good shape and since the machine work is being done locally we are going to keep it as simple as possible so I'm stuck with having to use BMW valves.

I didn't realize that, I had everything done valves, guides, springs, seats. etc.  The turnaround on mine was about a week locally through Boxers by Bruce...
