The snow stuck around, so I was done after all.

'70 Bonneville:  2600 miles, up to 94,100

'81 R65:  5400 miles, up to 66,400 miles

The snow is gone now, I just need a reason to go somewhere.   :)

3895 kms, as i had the speedo worked on and reset to zero last year, thats what the odometer reads.
3895kms = 2420miles

Best I can tell from my usually reliable odometer, I've done about 1500 miles in '09.  That's about twice what I did in '08 and less than half of what I hope to do this year. [smiley=bmw_smiley.gif]

Y'all keep it between the ditches!

I only did about 1,200 miles this year.....part of that was a rather brutal summer ......... something like 38 days over 100 degrees.  Hottest year on record for us, Marble Falls, Texas...one of the driest too. Gets above 100 the Ford Ranger with A/C sure looks good.

Well, I rode 7,324 miles in 2009, but I have to admit all of that was on the R1200C.  I only managed about 400 miles on Britta, sadly.   :(

I know, I know.... She deserves better.  She's still stuck on a little over 150k on the odo, and really wants to get out on the road.   She has been suffering from neglect this past year, and I'm a little ashamed about it.  I guess I'm just not a two-bike guy.

She's at my mechanic's place right now, getting a check up.  I think I will be putting her up for sale to a rider who will ride her on a regular basis, which is what she needs.  I would love for her to go to someone local, but I will let everyone know when I'm going to offer her up for sale to a good home and garage!    ;)

PS... I just noticed that this is my 1,000th post on the forum.  Kind of ironic that the post includes my decision to part with my R65, huh?  Kind of sad, too.....   :'(

Oh, John!   :'(  How sad.  But I know how that goes.   It's hard to ride 2 bikes at once.    ;)

Don't get lost from this forum though.  You are part of it whether you have an R65 at the moment or not.    :D

John, if it wasn't for people 'moving on', a vast majority of members here wouldn't have the R65's they have now !!!

I was going through the vehicle registration process for my '79 Trans Am, and ran across the paperwork for the '81 R65, it's been in my possession since the third week of January,1981 .

Bike will be 30 years old in September .

Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

John,

Graham was the same way with his R100 when he had his F650 a few years back.  He also quit riding his R100.  So after 3 years, he sold the F650...to attached to the R100 to neglect it and too attached to get rid of it.  He's owned it new since 1981.

But you've finally gotten your dream bike, so there's no need to be sad about moving on.  Just don't forget about us here on the forum!

BMW K65 - 90659 to 96063 = 5404 sm
BSA A65F    - 1920 to 4023 = 2283 sm
BSA A65T - 21055 to 23173 = 2118 sm

Total mileage 2009 = 9805 sm.

Hey Ed.  You need to work on rolling that Bonnie over (to 100,000 miles).  Will the triumph Factory give you a fender medal?  If you need a reason to ride that is a reason!!!   ;)

I agree, Semper G.  Unfortunately the Windjammer on my R65 (you may want to edit your post....) has made a great southern pansy out of me, and I don't like riding the Triumph in crummy weather any more.  So it will probably take two more years.  I don't know if I can get a fender badge, but I'll certainly ask next time I'm near a Triumph dealer.  The only one I know of is in Eugene.
