PA SuperTech 2010
« on: December 30, 2009, 11:05:56 AM »
Wanted to know if any of you have a reserved spot for the PA SuperTech 2010 on Feb 4-7?  Would love to hook up with any of you if possible.  I just got my call from Bob Sipp yesterday there was a cancellation and I've taken the spot. Very excited, my first one.  Tina (wife) and I will be going. Sounds like a tremendous learning experience and some very impressive instructors and speakers.

Been reading about it in the ABC magazine. Sounds like a really informative and tasty event. Report back here how it went. Have a safe trip.   Monte

I will definately do that Monte. More than happy to share the photos and information.  I've been wanting to go to one of these for quite some time now and luckily there was a cancellation and I snuck in to the list.

It's in Boyerstown PA on Feb 5-7, 2010.

Congratulations on the trip, Mike!  That is quite an investment of time and resources for you.
I thought all of us east of the Rockies envied all the neat motorcycle stuff in Calif.!

Pennsylvania is a beautiful state, provided you aren't in any of the big cities, of course!  Too bad it will feel like Ice Station Zebra to you guys! lol!  (just kidding...)

Have you talked to vanzen?  I'm sure he'd love to meet Tony Foale.  http://www.tonyfoale.com/

Thanks Rob, the wife and I are going to pack our long sleeve T-shirts and wool shorts along with socks for our sandals.  Seriously, looking forward to visiting PA, we both love the East Coast and I'm looking forward to the day to break out of CA for good.

I'm told a special secret speaker is in line...maybe the fastest man on two wheels? I'm going to absorb as much as this little brain will allow and I'll be sure to share the session with all of you when we return.  It'll be nice to meet so many of the Guru's in person that we rely on so much. It should be a treat and a lot of fun.

I'm assuming you're talking about Rockerboxer vanzen?  No I have not.  I don't know much about him.

Sounds like a good time!  I lived north of where you are going for 5 years.  Sullivan County.  FANTASTIC commuting (to a job that didn't pay enough...).   Now I am back in the city, making the good money so I can pay off my daughter's student loan! lol!

Yes, Rockerboxer vanzen - I just assumed you had seen his latest project on Boxerworks.  He is doing his own frame design, being built by a specialist in Chicago.  He had pictures up last spring, I think.  Maybe it has been over a year???  :D  No, he & I haven't done a f2f yet.

Mike, congratulations!   I had signed up, but due to family considerations, had to withdraw.  I sent Bob an e-mail on the 29th, then you got notified.....  hmmm....   well, like I said, congrats.

I've attended 3 past SuperTechs - they are definitely worthwhile.  Met Oak two or three years ago.  Tom Cutter is there every year, plus a lot of other very Airhead-experienced people.   Interesting, plus a lot of fun.

Enjoy!

Charlie,
Thanks!  Sounds like that warm seat I landed in was yours.  I'm looking forward to this a great deal and finally will be able to meet some of my ABC buddies in person. This will be my first and I hear the pace is brisk but very enjoyable and most educational. We gotta do what we can to keep these bikes on the road and running in good condition while the parts are still available to us.

I see that Tony Foale is a special guest at supertech. I liked his motorcycle book. Motorcycle Handling and Chassis design. I hope to have my r65 wondering around in Mexico that week. I pick up an 81 and your rebuild has helped me out a few times already. thanks for the info.

JDS,
Just heard from the Tech Organizers and they've confirmed another special speaker will be the "Fastest Man on Two Wheels" Chris Carr. Used to watch Chris here at the Del Mar Racetrack in his flat track hay days. Another treat and level of interest. Chris will be there Friday night during the social session and pizza fest talking about his speed run and tire technology. Unfortunately I can't be in 3 places at one time. Each time slot has 3 different speakers and subject matters so I'll have to make some choices of priorities for eash session. Should be a brisk day and a half of education.
As soon as the heads and jugs return from Ted I'll be finishing up the R65 restoration and posting more photos. It's waiting patiently in the shop, all dressed up and no place to go...for now.

I Don't think I've met Carr. One Daytona trip. We got rained out for 3 days at a vintage National Motocross in a big party tent. And got to listen to Dick Mann tell none stop motorcycle stories. I've run into Mert Lawwill a few dozen time. I'm pretty sure the year we got rained on in daytona that a Airhead won. There was a nasty mud section from all the rain and the BMW blasted through the mud with no problems, seems like he laped the whole field. 94 Ocala if I remember right. Have fun in PA. keep posting the info.
