I suppose it's all a matter of what you consider to be your "entire area", but a friend of mine has a henna red R65LS and lives around Corvalis (actually, just outside of Philomath).
He bought that bike as cheap transportation from a party in Morro Bay for $1800. It was very ugly, someone had cut down the original mufflers, down to the 2nd weld, because they were too quiet apparently, and tack welded on reverse cones made from roof flashing. Ugh. It was greasy and loud. But he found a new set of mufflers, I fixed the clutch switch, we did a fluid change, valve set, tune up and replaced the fork oil, and he has been going on it now for about 5 years...
You won't really get rid of the clunk in the shifting, at least not like your Japanese bikes. It's a feature. (There are shifting techniques to reduce it.)
