G'Day All, Bike is 1986 model that I have just spent over a year doing a 100% restoration to. I got it as a total mess so gave it the full treatment (every nut and bolt) I did it to suit my own style so it is not by the book. I also have a mint 1970 R/75 I restored awhile back. I am in the process of getting photos together so will post shortly. Aussie Ken. (wheels are gold)

Welcome Ken! Ohhh, my favourite combo black and gold! Could you elaborate on the pinstriping...tape or handpainted?? I am considering gold pinstriping on the second bike (Bonnie) and just wondering how hard it is to lay down tape and how expensive would handwork be?

Clarification! LRB is so beautiful off the shelf that he needs no cosmetics!
(Shhhh...I had to say that...remember the"peace in our time" theme?)
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

OK that settles it, I need new (stainless) exhaust.  That's a pretty bike.

Suecanda, Pin striping is hand laid with two coats of clear lacquer on top. I have used this method for many years and never a problem. Striping is very easy to lay and take around corners etc with a bit of practice and care. I had a Ducati 900 years ago that was black and gold so that is where the paint idea came from. I reckon I painted that tank at least eight times before I was happy so pin striping was the easy part. Regards. Aussie Ken.

Welcome, Ken!  That black and gold combo is a great look for the bike.  I wonder why BMW never offered this on their bikes back when they took the time to do the hand-pinstriping!   ;)
