Beautiful bike, Constellation.  Soooo clean and shiny.

Are you sporting an extra guage up front or has your instrument console been modified?  And what kind of sidestand is that?  The black looks great with your crash bars.  I'd bet you get a lot of compliments on that bike.

Hello Yikes, the sidestand is a "Surefoot", quite a common aftermarket fitting here. Much stronger than the original and very easy to kick down (and up) when sitting in normal position. Instruments: what you see is a BMW voltmeter (not very accurate). On the right hand side there is a corresponding clock (very accurate!). These were optional extras when new. Not sure if they are still available.
Maybe you noticed silencers are not standard, they are a couple of inches more upswept than standard. I didn't notice until I came to fit my new Krauser-Hepco cases: the BMW baggage frames would not fit. I had to replace the silencers. But the cases look fine. Another new part, just visible, is the 12v socket fitted to the left battery cover. It's a BMW item, still available. Always live, but it has its own fuse, easy to remove if you want to disconnect it.

Connie,  Your mufflers... What brand are they? R65 specific? Supplier?

Thanks, Monte

Hello Monte, the mufflers are a complete mystery, stainless steel (non magnetic) but no markings of any kind on them. This is technically illegal here as road-legal mufflers must have an E marking (Europe standard) or a British Standard number. They must have been a personal import from outside Europe. I don't think they were R45-65 specific as the mounting bracket had been altered, whatever the original was it had been filed or hacksawed to make a long slot instead of the two holes that should be there. However the bracket was in the right place. Mystery.

Tillie is embarrassed that I haven't given her new paint for her wheels, etc., but perhaps that will come over the winter.   The sun was out this afternoon, so we went out into our backyard:

Mine will soon, again, look something like this.
Sorry about the B&W - I'm frequently forgetting to set that back...
The paint is Bronco Brown.

Hi Rob,

What seat and rear rack is that? it looks really sharp. If it's an easy fit (and available in Oz) it would make getting single seat rego a snap.

John- Actually, the photo is a bit flattering of Tillie as she still has all her original factory red paint, and there definitely are places where it is scratched, worn thin, and, where the front of the seat meets the back of the fuel tank, a large semi-circular arc where its down to the metal and beginning a bit of rust.  I've repainted the frame, sidecovers, and exhaust so far. My plan for the winter is to either try my hand at spray painting, and/or take her tank, fairing, wheels, front fender, and rear cowling in to get painted.  Then, with some new brake pads&shoes I've got on order, she'll be just about perfect (and time to move on to another airhead project, perhaps !!!)
