Taken last weekend. As you can see the harvest is safely in, so there will be more beer  :) .

I am very happy to see your rs-fairing. Every r65 should have one :-)

After half a season's riding, I find the fairing the best thing I've done for the wh8la2.

greetings from a halfclouded, pecipitating north

Hey Ed,  I have meant to comment on the picture you posted of your most road worthy R/65. Back in the day when I had my R60/5 on the west coast I explored logging roads and other pavementless byways. I was was pretty impressed with the bike's composure on such roads. I thought that having some agressive tread would be very cool in theses areas. When I saw your bike from Oregon those tires made perfect sense to me. You must have a blast in the willy wags. I also remember having logging trucks and other vehicles fling gravel as they passed by so the Vetter would offer good protection for projectiles as well as the elements. Thanks for the picture it brought back nice memories. Dave 2

Thanks Dave.  Those tires were nice on dirt and gravel but scared the heck out of me cornering hard on pavement, so I took them off.  I still have them, I guess in case I run across spare wheels.  That would be nice.   ::)

It certainly is!  And look at how all the big bad cruiser boys have all moved away to look at it and talk about it.  Jealousy no doubt!   [smiley=tekst-toppie.gif]

Hah! Yep, no doubt.  At a later stop, a similar biker roadhouse on the twisty Ortega Highway, I parked, went inside, and came out to find a crowd of half a dozen guys around my bike ... talking in German. It was a group of Germans here for a 3-week guided moto tour of the West. One guy had his own K1200 shipped over with German license plate. The rest were on rented Harleys. And no doubt wishing they were on airheads.
Cheers,
Bill

Lou, don't take him literally!  I'd hate to see a middle aged Limey riding the streets sans any apparel.  Just leave the fairing off.  What a really nice clean looking bike.  I love these little guys!

Take lots of pics during your restoration process, so you will have something to show and be proud of when it's all done!  Good luck!!  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Do you still want to come over and see it?
