Aida has offered to help me post LRB. So I should take her up on it if this is another failure. I see the KB are OK for size. I suspect I can't just go to my C: drive pic folder and get a pic??

I'm continually amazed at the beautiful R65s preserved and enjoyed by the forum's membership. Sue, that photo [smiley=thumbsup.gif] rocks.

Sue...that bike is soooooooooooooo hot...I love it!!!!! Did you powder coat the wheels??? If so did you have trouble with the paint peeling?? Was it a special aluminum paint??

Sue, LRB is drop dead beautiful! What a great job you have done. You and the other members who have brought their old 65's back to looking better than new are an inspiration to me. Thanks for showing us LRB [smiley=bmw_smiley.gif] Dave 2

Sue, that bike is STILL the first BMW I saw long ago that I wanted from the start!  :P

Before I get too old to swing my leg over the saddle, I will own an LS!  (Hopefully one that looks as good as yours!)   ;)

Aw shucks..thanks guys! Well, LRB looks great in that photo yes...but it is not that the photo got airbrushed or anything like that..it is simply that LRB loves to be waxed and polished and the photo is not a closeup. He has all sorts of blemishes and worn spots on the usual places where road dust and dirt will damage paint. Like the very front edge of the fairing. But as I say somehow the paint takes on a real shine still! So satisfying.
The powdered coated white wheels are virtually pristine and have been so for 6 years now. LRB came with the silver wheels and that really bothered me as I remember my first LS and one of the major reasons I loved it were the white wheels against the red paint job. I couldn't see they weren't white wheels clearly in the Ebay ad! So I discovered brand newly powdercoated white wheels from a fellow named Stefan Sowards (ibmwr.org marketplace) from the NM White Sands Missile Range. Derek bought them for me for xmas way back when! Cost a small fortune but I got the rotors, axles, bearings and all seals/spacers etc. I have been busy cleaning white wheels ever since. I did get behind though for those times the rear wheel drive breather wasn't sorted out!! ::)

I would like to powdercoat the polaris silver wheels and I too have concerns about getting a good job done. Sowards powdercoater did a good job because that stuff is tough!

It is my understanding that BMW started to provide a choice for LS wheel colour, white or silver, after the white wheels showed cosmetic cracks between the softer spoke and hard rim metal compounds. They even put out a white tape to disguise the crack!

You guys make me feel so good that we all need to sit around together having a beer just staring at our bikes! :)

Hey Ed, I figure we get to see your bike in person next summer????

Sue:
What an absolutely beautiful R65LS!  I love the white wheels... great choice.  My '82 LS is silver with silver wheels and the wheels still look great.  If I had a choice I would prefer owning a red LS, but the silver is still nice.  Alex from Columbus, OH

It seems likely.  Arly and Chris in BC have already had the dubious pleasure.  Does this mean you want me to ride the R65 to Redmond, not the Triumph?   ;D
