Hi all,

I was a sometimes visiter to the old site and have decided to join in on the new site.

I have an 84' R65 that I bought from a forum member in Mackay who went by the handle "Rusty"   Are you still on here mate?

I have let the her sit for a while after the gearbox started to make expensive grinding noises right at rego time. Not the best choice I know but needs must.

Now i have moved to a house with a real shed I can devote some time and space to putting her back on the road.

I will be posting some resurection questions once I have had a good search and read of the current forum.

As Monte mentioned there are quite a few experienced hands available to share their knowledge,  and a few of us inexperienced hands always happy to look over your shoulder while you take something (expensive) apart to "learn as you go".

I'm with Ed...an over-the-shoulder asylum member. I do have my 2 cents worth though at times...like making sure the rear drive mushroom-shaped filler cap is lifted up enough to be the vent it is suppose to be!!!
An oft forgotten detail..by me anyway.

Thanks Dav, she isn't so pretty at the moment , looking more like a barn find than I'd like. My own fault for not checking while she was laid up.

Semper, I realy have no idea. It was on the bike when I got it. I didn't even realise it isn't stock.

The rotor has a similar diagonal cut as the Suzuki GS bikes did have here in the states back in the 80s, but I don't think that it is one of them.
The black with white/red stripes is a very classic look - sharp!

Nice R65 you got there Bing. Im just up the road in Gympie if you ever want to meet up for a coffee somewhere in between. Have you joined the Qld branch of the BMW club. Hoping to go to the BMW Karuah River rally in Febuary on the my R65. it down near Gloucherster in NSW.
 Look forward to seeing what she turns out like. Solo rego is a good option too.

At the moment it looks like all it needs is a replacement driveshaft and a little TLC (knocks on wood).

Craig, I'll have to look up the club. I haven't given membership much thought. What are the rules around the single seat rego?

Basicly you have to have a seat no longer than 500mm and you must remover the pillion pegs and either weld up the holes or drill them out. However sus out your local dealer who will do this and ask them what they require. Mine was already solo rego`ed, but i solo rego`ed my 07 DR650 last year and that was the set up. half the rgeo is much better than what Captain Bligh is making us pay now
