Nice One Son R65 resto update
« on: September 27, 2009, 07:48:23 AM »
Afternoon everybody,

I trust all are well?

We have cracked on a bit with the bike looking a little bare!

The rear is getting a lot of treatment, peg sets just about to come off and we are getting ready for the swing arm etc a little later.

Front mud guard, lamp housing, insts etc all off.

Airbox, carbs also all off as well as the exhaust, I have to say that so far we have had an easy time of it, I am sure that just around the corner, the problems await!

We are working towards engine removal as the next big job, any advice for preparation to do that?

So, hopefully, strip down complete in another 2 weeks or so and then we send the various bits away for paint/repair etc and start planning for the rebuild!

I sat my engine on a trolley jack to remove the mounting bolts once i had stripped off the gearbox and starter cover. The unit came out easilly enough but remember to label up your wireing as both Clymer and Haynes wireing diagrams are incorrect (and dissagree) on my ignition wireing maybe ok for yours with the crackomatic but i would label the cables anyway to be sure.
For the carbs 01422 343342 Dyson Rd Halifax or ring Andrew at Mollsprings
