Guys,

its been long hard and expensive but I'm pleased to announce that my '79 is finally finished. Hopefully.

I'm still sorting issues with it and I'm still waiting on some parts although it isn't critical.

I'm off for a ride now and I'll add an update on any findings from this jaunt when I get back.

Well done - you've got a very nice ride there. A pity about the linkage ( [smiley=uhoh2.gif]) - but all is not lost...PM Justin, - he makes 'better than new' linkages.

Cheers
Tim

Most excellent. It appears in the photos that the front fender is black, matching the aft 'un. With the silver tank and aluminum/black engine, it works well. I likey.

here's something you'd enjoy. Justin crafts these things in his sleep and they're still pretty cool. Git ya one soon. I used to have a bent paperclip like yours.  ;D

I'll second the approval of Justin's shift linkage, it allows you to adjust your shift lever, to suit your particular liking .

Shifting feels a bit more 'positive' than before.

thanks for your comments guys,

ive been out today and the carbs need balancing, had to fettle them whilst on the road as there was flames shooting from the cans, esp the left pot.

apart from that and the tax disc holder falling to pieces the ride was good even though it was cold.

i'll take J.B. up on his linkage when i next get paid!

Good one hot stuff,

I have yet to even start on my project LS, must be satisfying to be "finished", not that that can ever happen, at least she is on the road again (hey that would be a good name for a song).

Good to hear of another project finishing up.  Congratulations!

More encouragement for me to finish mine.  I'm missing some riding weather.

Loosen those lower hose clamps on the fork gaiters, and pull the bottom of the gaiter down as far as you can on the fork slider.  As it is now, your gaiters will compress and stop your forks from their full travel.  (I made the same mistake.  We need to be careful because these bikes were not designed for gaiters.)

Before (being advised)

After

And quite nice, indeed!

Thanks for the advice,

I'm waiting on a few additional items for it as the diaphram on the r/h carb is split and other shiny bits  ;D

I'm off work on friday and I'm off to Manchester to visit my local BMW dealer who are holding some new gloves for me. I can also take the opportunity to test and run in a bit more before taking on the welsh National Rally on the Saturday. I'll post pics and give you report on the  rally next week.
