Probable domain name change for the forum
« on: February 25, 2009, 02:32:36 PM »
Justin Morrison wondered about our domain name, and at the time that was just the way it was, but...  Due to the outstanding generosity of one of our members the donation kitty had enough scratch in it to register our own (not borrowed) domain dame.  I have registered the name bmwr65.org and we will migrate the forum over to that.

This migration should be pretty transparent and we'll put a redirect on the old one that will automatically route users to the new address.

Maybe next week...

Just so nobody becomes concerned since we just went through a host move...

There is no host change, just a domain change.  So no worries about loss of data, downtime, etc.  It'll be as transparent as it can get, and everyone will see the change the moment the change is made.

I now have a YaBB 2.3 Forum installation complete on the new domain.  you can go to www.bmwr65.org and if your dns has caught up you will see a white page with a sentence at the top.

I am waiting for some sort of guidance from YaBB support as to which live data files to move from this current forum as I don't want there to be any possibility of moving a problem to the new board.

If I can't get a good answer (in my opinion) I may just move the last data from the Old-Old forum to it and we'll just be a couple of days out of date.  There really doesn't seem to have been a lot of real posting going on here with all the problems folks have been having so that might not be as bad as it sounds...
