I'm looking for a place that I can get maintainence items like filters etc and also steering bearings/races for my 84 R65. What are some of the favorites?

If you have a local dealer they may stock some of the general stuff.  Even when I don't think my dealer is likely to have something in stock, I call and order it and go pick it up the following week.  I think it does them good to see an Airhead every once in a while.

Good luck,

I live in New Zealand and I use Motobins as well!  They seem to have the best prices and service is good.

Chicago BMW - usually the best prices, but typically slow on delivery.  YMMV

Max BMW

Bob's BMW

Capital Cycle

and many more.

Then there are the smaller places, like Boxerworks.

I use Mahle filters (they are the OEM for BMW) and they are a few bux cheaper.  You can find them here: http://www.flugelnus.com/oil-filter-hinged--airhead.html

Hammersley has been good to me. Chicago BMW like prices with faster service.

Here's another Ebay treasure trove of excellent parts, priced & shipped very fairly
If you don't see it, email Larry, and he'll either have one, can get one, or probably be able to send you to where you can get one, anyway. And if he can't, he'll say so outright, no BS.

His nephew, Larry the 7th ( ;)) , recently sent me a centerstand for the Guzzi, free, and I paid him s&h. He also followed up to make sure I got it and it fit ok.
Some of these East Texas boys are definitely all right

Jonathan, you might want to keep a close eye out here too!  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

HolyMoely! Steve, you start calling Texas Hill Country folk East Texas boys and you're gonna have a tussle on your hands!  :-[ Edwards Plateau natives  8-) are a whole different breed of cat than the good ol' boys in the East Texas piney woods. That's sorta like calling you North Carolina good people, well, never you mind.
