Check the cover photo of the November 1983 issue of BMWMOA ON, reproduced on page 50 of the new (November) issue of ON.

The first paragraph explains:  "Fast, faster, fastest! That's Dale Cox on the cover astride his R65, caught in the act of trouncing . . ., who are piloting a Suzuki Katana and Honda CBX six-cylinder."

Take that, rice mills!

The R65 even has a fairing on it too - is that a Rabid Transit, or a Pichler, or ?

The fairing looks to be a Hannigan.

I'll have to dig that issue out.  That is going WAY back in my kingdom of boxes...

Can anybody scan a picture of the bike and post here?  I'd love to see the Hannigan on the R65.  (thinking about one you see...)

As one of our more lazy politicians always said to the journalists when they went for him: 'I do not discuss anything I haven't read!' In this case, seen.  ;)

I can try to scan it over the weekend, but unfortunately, it is a small (and black &white) picture, so it may not be very good.
