I'm glad I found you all!

Hi everyone!,
Looks like I finally found a fellow group of bikers with the same love I have for this gentle, graceful member of the airhead family.  Before I got here I lived in Brazil, Colombia, Canada and the USA.  I am an engineer by training and have been involved in a career in International Finance for two decades.  I speak several languages.  I eat everything except organs.  I can't stand loud bikes!  My personal interests are fishing (worldwide and with everything except dynamite), travel (74 countries in 26 years), reading economic and political history, photography and of course bikes.

I am here because of bikes.  Bikes is a broad topic.  The type you pedal, I began with Raleigh 3-speeds, then Schwinn 10-speed, Colnago, Kestrel, Waterford and Dean Titanium.  The bikes with motors overlapped the ones with pedals.  After playing around with a Vespa, a Yamaha Big Bear Scrambler, Montessa Scorpion, Ducati 250 Desmo, Bultaco Pursang, Honda 750 Interceptor and a BMW R80G/S I finally arrived to my fair R65.

I prefer simpler technology - bikes with V-4s, with computers, injectors, where you can't push a pencil up to the eraser in the engine bay because there are so many pipes, cables, finned metal, frame and bodywork in the way don't appeal.  The R-series gives me the pleasure of being able to do something for myself. All of the basic maintenance is achievable - and the wrenching part of bike ownership is every bit as pleasurable as the riding.
I also find the camaraderie of the Airhead crowd healthy and something to look forward to.

I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Welcome to our forum.

I hope that you will gain as much knowledge from this forum  and spend as many nice hours here as I have done.

Your can always find x solutions to the y problems that look like the problem you have but are quite different when you dig into the matter.

Never the less as a complete stranger to the world of mechanics I have learned a lot about how to maintain my bike and make it a better ride.

greetings from a partly sunny and windy north

Yeah, and I'd like to hear about that famous beach in Rio, Ipanema!  Especially those "floss" bikinis the babes down there wear!   ;)

Woof!!!!
