Real OEM and the R65LS
« on: May 23, 2008, 05:17:24 PM »
Hi All,

I am having problems with Real OEM and wonder if anyone can help. I cannot see the R65LS in the menus of motorcycles available.  Moreover when I put in my VIN number it doesn't work.  Has anyone else had problems find the R65LS in Real OEM?

All the best,
Paul

Paul,
Heres the path to take, click on each & you should find it
MOTORCYCLE --> ARCHIVE --> R45-R65LS..78-85 --> N/A --> R65LS --> EUROPE --> [select your date of manufacture] and Bobs yer Uncle! My Manufacture date is 01/1982 so I wind up here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=0359&mospid=47852
If you are still having trouble figuring out the build date try
http://bmbikes.co.uk/chassispages/enginechassis650.htm
And if all else fails PM me the VIN. Even if its recorded incorrectly I can figure it out. Long story involving state inspectors and modulo calculations.

Is the VIN of your frame and engine the same, and which are you using ?

The frame VIN is the 'controlling' number.
'81 R65
'82 R65 LS
'84 R65 LS
'87 Moto Guzzi V65 Lario
'02 R1150R
Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Thanks Rich and Bob I have found my R65LS in Real OEM. I was failing to click Archive.

I needed the part number for the rear fuel tank clip. A cable tie is currently holding the tank in place. I went over a speed hump a little quick and felt the tank move.

Whenever I see a parts fiche I ponder over buying a new LS fairing and instrument panel.  Mmmmm maybe one day.

Thanks again,
Paul
