hello everyone :D

i registered yesterday and i thought i would introduce myself and my beemer.

i currently own a 1979 r65, which i bought in 2003 from an elderley gentleman from liverpool. it was a bit rough around the edges and it looked like the wiring had been butchered with the fitting of after-market stuff. however it ran and handled like a dream and after i removed all the extra stuff it ran lighter too :P

UKA (the first 3 letters in the reg) as i call her is finally starting to suffer 28 years of abuse and ive taken her off the road for a full strip-down and rebuild.

so if the members dont mind, i would like to share the rebuild with yourselves in words and pictures. i would also welcome your thoughts and criticisms :D

cheers, v&p

Hello & welcome.
Thanks for any & all reporting on your strip down & rebuild. Look forward to following the project. As I have a 81 R65 which will be needing the same very soon.

Hello there

Small world ain't it, I live just down the road in southport.! My 81 is also off the road at the moment as it has been for the past 3 yrs. Can't make my mind up whether to strip right down or just get it going and enjoy again next summer. No doubt I too will be making frequent visits to this forum when the covers finally come off so thanks in advance guys and gals.

Steve.

Hey Steve :)

Although I live in the Lakes these days I spent my teens in Southport (well Formby), and was fleaced god knows how many times by that so and so at S/port superbikes for Beemer bits before I discovered Motorbins.

Hello Thrang

Yes I know who you mean, even Dick Turpin wore a mask! Funnily enough I have seen your posts a number of times and also spend a fair bit of my leisure time up your way fishing for the pike on windermere.

Regards Steve.
