Newbie from South Africa!
« on: October 07, 2007, 02:41:11 PM »
Hi there!

I'm DeanrRider from Durban, South Africa!

Although owning various other bikes (mainly Triumphs and the odd Honda!), I have owned two Beemers for the past 25 years -- a 1982 R65LS I have had since it was 9 months old and a 1984 R100CS since 1985.

I had a bad accident on my R100CS a few years ago and am busy re-building it to better than new condition -- been more than 4 years already -- I am slow but thorough!  My r65LS is used practically daily, although right now am in the process of giving it a brake overhaul -- ATE brakes -- new S/S pistons, S/S braided hoses, new Master cylinder seals and o ring etc.

Have some questions to ask re: maintenance etc., but will not overdo my welcome at this time. Just glad to have found this forum and look forward to some helpful advice and interaction.

Welcome DeanRider, seems like we have two other members on the site from South Africa. Don't hesitate, go to the technical section, and ask all the questions you want !! After owning your LS for about 25 years, I'm sure you have run into most of the problems that these bikes can throw at you . Great to hear from another long time owner, I've had my '81 R65 since January, 1981, don't think I could ever get rid it now . Seems like it's part of the family!

Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Welcome!

I have 1981 R65 I've owned for over 12 years. Great bike.
