New Project?
« on: April 27, 2017, 01:56:49 PM »
I have been offered (for free) a 1977 R100/7. Last owner 34 years. Lots of issues within the family and the owner has to get rid of it.

Here's the catch!

Frame is bent, engine is seized and their is an electrical problem.

What are the thoughts and advice?

Thanks

Chris

if the forks are good frames are relatively cheap.

Was the bending of the frame the result of a crash and stowing the bike for a long duration? In any case, whatever it is, you're getting more than you paid for...... doesn't happen often ;)

Grab it and we'll fix it here as a team, we won't tell anyone you have 350cc's too many ::)

The owner was knocked off the bike, the evidence of bent frame is the front wheel when on the c/s is still on the ground.

I agree it seems a good opportunity, I will need some help!

You'll find a frame quite easily I should imagine. Plenty go on ebay. Spray a bit of diesel down the barrels and lean the bike over on each side for a while then try to strip the barrels off.
Fingers crossed you may be able to remove them.
It'd be great to rescue it from the scrapheap or worse being broken and sold as spares. Worth it in the long run.
