Seems like a lot of custom bmw's for sale.
« on: March 17, 2017, 11:29:38 AM »
Looking around at the bikes for sale over the past few weeks, there seems to be an awful lot of custom cafe racer bm's on ebay. Strong prices too, anything from £3k to £10k. I wonder if it will only strengthen the value of a standard model in later years when there are fewer about. I don't disagree with the trend of these hipster type bikes if it means another bike gets saved and used.
Especially one that has been around the block.

I visited SMC bikes Sheffield last w/end, 2 airhead 'custom' bikes on offer, neither particularly very good, yet one was £8k.

Speaking to the manager of the business who spotted my 65 in the bike park outside, he told me unmolested airheads were fetching serious money as the chop boys didn't want to spend a lot of money getting the bike right before chopping them up and adding more cost before trying to sell them. This Sheffield dealer was shipping airhead customs to London mainly with an occasional local buyer. He told me to 'never' sell my bike, it will be a real investment in the future...

I think there are a lot of people (especially here in the UK) who have seen the early signs of spring and are trying to offload their bikes at some silly prices.

1983 R65LS completely refurbished to my liking.
1985 R80 nearly stock rebuild (basically new bike).
1981 R65 (box of bits).

I'm not sure whats going on with the weather here at the moment, one minute it's sunny and then it's raining like it's the end of the world.

Stunning day in Wales apart from the snow first thing.
Spring is in the air, honest!
