Well my information pack for the ACU (Auto Cycle Union) National Rally arrived this morning care of Mr Posty.
Four hours and much swearing later I've finally got a route that meets the criteria of 12 check points and fits between the 265 and 280 mile distance requirements. Because the nature of the rally is such that you can only travel between checkpoints that have connections with a marked distance between them on the route matrix, planning can be a very frustrating experience. I plotted about 9 routes before I got one that worked from my closest start checkpoint at Kendal and finished with in a 100 miles of home (Harrogate in Yorkshire).
All I need to do now is cross my fingers and hope that the weather plays ball, because I don't want a good soaking cold 400 odd mile day on the R65 four days before I fly to the USA with the wife!
