Ducati Scrambler

I was out today, just riding around burning dead dinosaurs, and ended up near the nearest BMW dealer so I decided to stop in and have a look. This is a combination BMW/Ducati dealer. I have to say that although the BMW's were very nice and technological marvels, they left me with an empty feeling. One - I don't think I could fit on any of them (inseam challenged) and the price tags left me feeling I would need to be John Dillinger if I wanted to ride one.

What did impress me was the Ducati Scramblers in the showroom. Great looking bike and reasonably priced. Anyone know anything about them that would care to comment?

I don't know about the units in the USA, but every unit shipped here in Philippines are made in Thailand.

I tested one before and it was plenty fun to ride. Though I can't imagine myself covering long miles with the stock setup.

It's interesting that the new BMW's left you with an empty feeling. That's how I felt after sitting on a Ducati Scrambler. I felt the bike was cheap. Not high quality at all. I had an old 900SS/Sp. And felt that bike was quality. Actually, I feel empty about all new bikes now. I really hate to sound negative. Just the way I feel, I guess.

They look like alot of fun to ride short distances/around town - a back to basics' type of ride.  I think that there is a place in the market for such bikes - obviously there is or Ducati wouldn't be making them.   But, I think they're targeted at more entry level riders, or older riders looking at adding a 2nd or 3rd bike to the garage for those Sunday morning nostalgia rides.
