Next week is the Barber Vintage festival which is turning into a must go to event.
I've been to the Barber Vintage Days four times. It's been a kick ass fun time every time. However...
Rec'd an email notice that automobile parking on the grounds will no longer be free. Advanced parking tickets are now on sale but likely already sold out. Those that elect not to pony up to park will have to leave their vehicles at an off-site area and ride a shuttle to and from. For me, that means it'll be tough to just walk over and pick up a sandwich plus another beer outta the cooler. Also, small gas scooters and motorcycles are no longer permitted to operate within the swap meet lanes. Grrrr...
Camping spaces sold out five days after spots became available. That was a few months ago. Anyway...
It's a great experience. The Swap Meet area takes a couple days to wade through it all. The Barber Museum is ranked as the Numero Uno motorcycle museum in the world. I believe it. One day is not enough to see everything on all four levels. The AHRMA road and x-cty races plus the trials are fantastic. There's even a race for motorcycles that are 100+ years old!
The Barber grounds are the cleanest and most well groomed you'll ever see. Entire crews work sunup to sundown doing nothing but policing the landscape. Shuttle trains borrowed from Talledega Raceway move folks around the grounds. Free, last I heard.
If you've never experienced Barber Vintage Days, find a way to get there.
