A Collectors item
« on: October 02, 2014, 02:05:04 PM »
1st of September I renewed my Tax Disc for Gertie (Vehicle excise licence) but as I spent most of September in the US of A I never got round to displaying it, so it is still attached to the original paperwork and I suspect that it may be worth something one day... I will leave it with the bikes documents for now.

I have every tax disc issued for my R45 since it was new and every MOT certificate which is a bit of history to keep with the bike.

"Bicycle" is the taxation class which is kind of quaint I suppose and differentiates it from a "Tricycle".

In the UK a 3 wheeled car is classed as a tricycle with lower tax than a 4 wheel car and it can be driven on a motorcycle license. Back in the 70's that meant you could drive one at 16 years old instead of 17. In those days many motorcycle dealers sold 3 wheel cars as the next step up after a motorcycle.

Un huh... 'Ol Benght Phorqs and I had an indoor range day set up for Lucky Lou but he was way too busy doing the White Elephant Saloon thang, the FTW Stockyards and buying up every pair of Wrangler jeans he could find in his size. Or so he said... Lou's hotel was just across the street from one of Fort Worth's fanciest "gentleman's club" cabarets. Not that I've been there or anything...

Our dinner date at Saltgrass was a hoot. Lou discovered we talk Texican WITHOUT a Yorkshire accent.

I even had an Airhead set up for 'ol Lou but the tourist draw proved too strong for the lad.

Perhaps next time, eh Sherwood?
