Back on the road...Finally
« on: October 05, 2013, 07:00:55 AM »
Yesterday I finally finished the work on tightening my steering head bearings and the front brake problem. When I went to put the button everything up I found that my Clutch switch had become unplugged from the left hand controls. I realized that when I put it together during the restoration that I somehow missed the little screw that holds it down. I had just shoved it in place on op of the screw [smiley=wall.gif]. So I had to remove the grip, disconnect the cables, etc, etc. Moral of the entire story seems to be if you don't do it right the first time it will bite you in the rear another time. I managed to get in a couple of hours of riding around the island. The front end no longer clunks when going over bumps and the handling is even sweeter. OMG, I love curves. I'm thinking of setting my shocks(the "new" Koni's) to the middle setting.  This is more of a gut feeling than any specific behavior, I weigh a good 220 LBS, and with the front end dialed in I thought I would see what difference I might feel. I can now hit the handle bars at speed and get no wobble. but with both hand on the grips if I give it a push on one side the bike feels twitchy but solid and controllable. Maybe thats normal. I hope today I will have a chance to give it a go. Thanks for all your support, Dave 2

I did notice a few guys checking the bike out as I drove through down town Bar Harbor...But no young women running up to me to jump on for a ride. What's with that?

Well, Dave, you certainly can't blame that new Screamin' Ferrari Red R65 of yours! ::)

That's the reason I like to ride with Bengt Phorqs... He makes me look nice.
