Hi guys, just got myself a 1984 r65. Hadn't been ridden since 2001.
Changed all fluids, set valve clearances and balanced carbs, it's running like a dream, I'm really happy with it. I also have a Rockster but the R65
is so easy and relaxing to ride on the back roads that are common here in Ireland.
It's a lovely bike but the street scrambler bug is biting at me. For now I'm just going to enjoy riding it, then see what to do.
I'm putting up a pic, hope it works.
Cheers, Rocky. [smiley=bmw_smiley.gif]

Hi Lou, yes G is for Galway. I bought it from a guy that imported it from the UK in 2006 but didn't register it here until this year. It's showing 16000 miles, Mot certs seem to back this up.

Nice bike, looks clean and original.  Don't be tempted to remove that front mudflap. Fitting one was one of the best things I did to mine. They do a great job of keep the road muck off the engine and exhaust crossover pipe.  I also have the rear flap. Not sure what difference that makes as I've never been without it.

I was told by an old airhead rider (years ago) that his rear mudflap added at least 1000 miles to his rear tyre..... ;D

Thanks for the comments. I've really taken to the little Bmw, find myself jumping on it for a spin and neglecting the Rockster.
And yeah. the sun seems to have found us at last.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Cheers.

Hi Rocky,

Whereabouts in Ireland are you based?

My wife's family live in Templemore, Co Tipp, but hail from Limerick.

I don't think I have ever seen an airhead in Ireland and I travel there a lot for family and business.

It looks nice, enjoy!

Thanks Chris, I'm from County Wicklow, been through Templemore a couple of times out for a spin but never stopped there. Great biking roads here in Ireland.
Check out a few of them on here,  http://www.bestbikingroads.com/motorcycle-roads/motorbike-rides-in-ireland-/ireland-__2948.html. I've been on most of them and they are all good.
Cheers.
