Are Airheads popular?
« on: June 24, 2013, 07:00:30 PM »
Obviously, that's a rhetorical question. Check this out...

For a mere $4200.00 you, too, can make your 2006-2013 BMW R1200R look like a 1970s Airhead.

I'd be happier (and more interested) if they'd simply sell an R1200R (or maybe even a lesser displacement model) with the "proper" BMW livery, spoke wheels, and RS or S model fairing straight from the factory!

The tank is so tall, It looks like it would be at chest level when I ride on it.  ;D

Besides the tank and that awkward looking rear fender, the front end and the seat looks good though.

I looked at an old R90, years ago, and it had an aftermarket tank that looked very similar to that in the conversion.  I think the dude said it was 9 or 10 gallons - it was huge!

The conversion really doesn't look that bad...

Kind of like this tank currently listed on eBay for $11,950.

That's right, asking $12k for a gas tank. Granted it is nos and is rare but I have seen pristine used ones sell for $3-4k
