Its interesting that the weights quoted on the 1981 LS and the 1979 R65 are very similar - if they are to be believed.
1979 R65 - Curb weight (full tank) 205.4 (453lb)
R65 LS - 451lb (204.6 kg).
Of course the BMW quoted dry weight in the brochure at the end is meaningless as we do not have an equivelent for the 1979 bike. How much does a full tank of gas weigh anyone? And does dry mean dry? No oil. etc?
This is, of course, not quite right, one assumes. Unless the LS has some extra's not found on the 1979 (extra disk and caliper?). But could that negate, the lighter starter motor, flywheel and nikasil bores?
