I have recently bought an 81 R65.  My speedo has had it and I'm looking for a new one.  The broken one was a ratio W1318.  I have learned that perhaps the correct ratio for R65's is W1276.  Which is correct?  Can anyone help me?

Mine says W1318, but it's broken too.  The bike seems to go just fine anyway.   :D

Here is a good thread on speedometers from last year.  http://suraklyn.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1191260975

I have a W1276, and it is wildly inaccurate - from birth, I believe.

I have become addicted to my GPS for a speedometer.

Thanks Rob for that thread link from last year.  I know 100% more about ratios and final drives etc than I did yesterday!  It sounds like alot of us have speedo inaccuracy!  I'm not so paranoid now about ending up with something a bit inaccurate, as it sems like that may be part of the R65 camaraderie! ;D
Cheers from New Zealand.

Look at awaffa's (?) thread and check out the electronic cluster he is putting on his '65.  I think if ever one of mine fail to where I can't easily repair it then I'll go the digital route myself...
