To my American friends, Do any of you watch American chopper and do you believe it is fair dinkum, to me it has gone from interesting to down right insulting load of crap. I am interested to hear your opinions just out of interest. Ken.

Certainly from a 'Whinging Pom's' point of view, I lost interest in it a loooooong time ago.  Set-up arguments, and general poncing around and not enough technical content really turned me off.

Biker Build off was quite good, especially when you had some 'old school' bobber stuff.  Stuff that could be sensibly ridden after it was built.  A right laff when they break down though.  Still have to turn a blind eye to the Bullshit though.......

here was an American Cafe Racer program on recently, which had its moments, but it was shameful. some of the stuff they cut up.

It was somewhat interesting in the beginning, but quite sometime ago it deteriorated into nothing more than some prima-donna pissing contests over ridiculously stupid stuff, and bikes that were much less interesting and mostly the same save for some oddly cut tacked on metal bits.    I haven't watched it, or the spinoffs, in well over a year.

I quit watching once Paul Senior got off the steroids.
Guess he's in anger management classes these days as he's sure not the drug addled, violent individual he once was. Too late though, as he had already destroyed his family relationships along the way.

Same deal with that idiot Jesse James and West Coast Choppers. Unfortunately for us, Jesse moved his act to Austin where he has successfully created an entirely new population that can't stand him.

I haven't watched any of the "builder" shows in years. They all start to believe all the b/s that the show producers are telling them about how great and talented they are. Talented yes but a waste of space as human beings. Just my  [smiley=2cents.gif]

When the series first was aired, I was interested in it, wasn't fond of the product they produced, but I have to give them credit for the workmanship/craftsmanship that goes into the bikes they build .

But after a while the personality 'conflicts' made it not worth my time, if I wanted to listen to incessant BS, I would have gotten married 37 years ago .

Just to add to the multi-national nature of the replies (I'm a Taff not a Pom)...

Wifey and me watched the first couple of series of Chopper but after that we lost interest - they were just churning out the same old stuff with little variety, and all the antics were getting to be stage managed to such an extent that it made us cringe. They def sold out to the show producers.

We also watched a bit of the build off series, but it seemed to be a carbon copy of AC and we quickly lost interest in that as well.

There was a short series over here in the UK about enthusiasts building race bikes to run at Bonneville Speed week. It was a good series - one guy built the whole bike himself, in a shed - and I mean everything, even down to casting and machining the crank!

I have a video cassette of one episode of a British series called, I think, "A Bike is Born."  I only have it because it covers a 1970 Bonneville.

Our TV has lately started bombing us with the US import series Lizard Lick Towing. To me it looks like a totally scripted, stage-managed turd sandwich (to use Mr. Obama's colourful expression). But I'd like to know what US members think of it.

My heart went out to those fella's with that supercharged bike.  They built or modified absolutely everthing themselve except the supercharger.  And what do you think let them down - you guessed it - the supercharger - Gutted!

The there was guy with his bowl issues - all the way there with his home built special only not to run.....

Yep, that was the one. Thoroughly enjoyed it - forgot about the supercharger bit! Puts my poor attempts at modifying to shame lol.
