Hello All,

First post, just bought an 86 R65 Monolever, 10k miles. Nice shape. Will post pix soon.  I've owned/ridden Airheads before & missed them. My F800GS is a great appliance but missing the "sweetness" of a Boxer.

Cheers

Welcome to the forum.  I just joined last fall after buying an '86 R65.  Nice to see another '86 on here.  Hadn't ridden in 20 years.  Got the bug now, that's for sure.  This is a great forum, everyone so very helpful.  Good luck.

Welcome aboard!

I think that your experience is very similar to many/most of us here - newer bikes are nice and dependable and all, but they sometimes seem to lack that motorcycle character that the lovable old airheads have plenty of.

We like pics!  Try to resize them to no more than 800x600 or less so that they fit nicely in the browzer frame, please.

I think you might have R80 crash bars on there, they look a bit wide. Nice in blue.

The R65 & R80 Monolevers use the same chassis...crash bars are "one size fits all"... part #46 71 1 240 881 SAFETY BAR, LEFT - BLACK

Hmmm, possibly, but mine are narrower. I got them from a friends large selection of new parts, he was sorting through matching them up until he found the R65 ones. There was definitely a difference when you laid them on top of each other. Here are mine, they seem much closer to the head....or maybe it's the angles.

I was kinda hoping to get over to that rally too but it now appears that I have been triple-booked for the weekend... don't think that I will make it.  Sad.

I was hoping to do that rally too, but a hand injury is keeping me grounded for a little while.
