Just kidding Â

The ride down from Minneapolis was great - veered off I35 at Mason City and took the blue highways the rest of the way. Â Was hot as hewk, but I was more focused on re-connecting with friends who share my love for motorcycling and BMW's.
Thought about riding Tina but in the end, rode my trust K75s - turned out to be a good choice. Â While gone, I pulled my speedo and sent it to Wirespokes for repair - the trip meter never worked and I want it too!
Camped the first night in Keokuk IA. Â Arrived at rally on Thursday July 18th and set up camp with some friends from the Twin Cities. Â
Attended some great Q&A sessions hosted by Paul Glaves and another by Tom Cutter - learned a lot, as I always do. Â Attended some travel seminars about m/c thru Alaska and Cuba. Â Got to meet Ron Sweet, one of our newer members who recently gave up his Harley for a R65! Â We met at Airhead Central where I became a member and bought a cool black Airhead tee shirt. Â Was neat watching others help others with their bikes - setting valves, RX'ing electrical shorts - good fellowship at the big Airhead tent.
Good entertainment - got to watch Kim Wilson from the Fabulous T'Birds perform - was a very good show!
Fairgrounds were ginormous - you'd never know 5,000 people attended was very deceiving! Â Shopping was good too - there wasn't much you couldn't buy - I picked up a new Olympia vented jacket and used my $15 Revzilla coupon to order a companion pair of Olympia vented pants. Â
Only ride I took was to a breakfast joint called North 65 Cafe - very good food! Â Ride home was uneventful - rode with friends to a motel on the MO/IA border and cooled of in the pool. Â Got an early start Sunday morning and was home by 3pm. Â Tired! Â Still have nagging brake shutter problem on the K75s. Â It's not unique to these bikes - I did replace the rotors with EBC floaters a couple years ago - seemed to help. Â But when I got home, I pulled off the rotors (also Brembo's like the R65LS) and pulled them apart for a thorough cleaning. Â Ordered new EBC HH pads which Paul Glaves say work well on these rotors (had Carbone Lorraine A3's (I believe these to be good pads too) Â Removed front wheel and rotors and scrubbed clean the rotors - used brake fluid and lots of paper towels to clean things up. Â Did use the air compressor to pop out the caliper pistons - found some water/fluid goo inside one of the calipers - everything now cleaned up - just waiting on parts! Â Pictures below from trip - I'm sure you won't know everyone but there is a nice picture of Tom Cutter, Paul & Voni Glaves and Voni & Ardys Kellerman the two women who reached a million safe miles last year and Valerie Thompson who hit woman's world speed record of over 200 mph on a BMW S1000 (?).
