Brother Selling his R65
« on: July 11, 2012, 02:26:07 AM »
My Brothers new job means he is only home Saturday lunch until Sunday night so he as asked me to put the bike on eBay he has 2 thumpers in the garage which are his real passion.
I listed the bike late Monday (10 day auction) this morning there are over 80 watching and a couple bidding, i have sold stuff before but never had this much interest in anything.....any UK folk interested here it is.....

Anyone else had this much interest in something on fleabay ???
I suspect his real reason for selling is he has his eye on an a New Triuph American, hope he buys it as i will do more miles on it than him.. well i am tasked with keeping his wheels turning lol

Bro's R65 is a looker. Will go for quite a bit more than the current bid. The last day and last few hours are where the activity can get frantic. I'll be watching, too. Good luck to you and your brother.

My recent showing on ebay usa had 16 watchers and somewhere around 300 views.  That was a classified and they typically don't get as many views.  I did link from the trading post here, which undoubtedly helped.

I'd bet 80 % of the watchers are owners who are trying to get an idea what these things are going for.

sold:
1983 33.8 E. Oil & Trans ?
Batt 10/06/2011
33.2 Head 35.5 (I0.005) ?(E0.009) 35.5
RearT 35.5 Spline 7/12 &
T.O.Bearing
C.U. Paste 5/12

Lou, that's a great looking bike.  Hey, is that an oil stain on the pavestone underneath the bike?  Probably not, but it doesn't look good.

Yes it is well spotted.... its from his BSA the oil return pipe blocked and it spewed out of the side engine case where the cables enter for the points..well we now have 100 watching and 2 off the book offers at near what he was hoping to get for it, i have advised him to wait a bit longer before pulling it out of auction as i think it will fetch a good price.
I took it for its MOT in May nice ride, only problem is the neutral light sometimes comes on between 3rd and 4th as it goes into gear.

Well disapointing really, at the end of the auction there were 250 watching plenty of bidders but it only fetched £1150...bargain, wonder if it was the mileage 88k putting folk off, Anyway little bro is in front as he swapped a dog for the bike (Border Terrier pup) he did spend quite a bit on it getting it up to snuff though.
