Tripped across this photo while cleaning out an old file cabinet.
Moiser Valley MotoCross Park, near Fort Worth, Texas, was
THE MX track to conquer in February of 1972.
Yamaha AT1-MX upgraded with 21-inch front rim, pipe, Petty plastic fenders, bars, steel-cleat foot pegs and some hacksaw work.
Twenty-five year-old rider, that be me, with English-imported Big John MX boots -they came by sea
very slowly- tailored leather pants and suspenders over the jersey. Note the rubber bumper strips on the
at the time trendy motocross gloves. Open face helmet but missing my Jofa/hockey gear mouth guard. All period correct. I have the scars to prove it.
Must have come off a small rise as the suspension is pretty well compressed.
Ring ding ding ding...
Thought I was pretty fast back then.

I don't remember ever being that young!
