Does the bike have ABS ?

Just a wild guess here, but if the bike has ABS, one of the wheel speed sensors may provide the signal for speedometer indication .

Do you have a wiring diagram for the bike ?

Bob the bike does have ABS but its a seperate sensor mounted inside the brake disc, the speedometer sensor plugs into the final drive housing the diagrams with the Clyma and on Real oem dont show it ???

Just another wild guess, does the speed sensor for the ABS, look the same as the sensor for the speedometer .

Maybe one of those parts that has multiple uses, but if you aren't 'trained on BMW bikes, it may not be a well known fact .
