Hi everybody!.
« on: June 12, 2011, 01:00:45 PM »
I am a 60 year old living in Harrisburg, PA on the banks of the beautiful Susquehanna River. I would love to find an old R65 to fix-up/ride. I never owned a car before I was married and rode various motorcycles back and forth to work through winters in northern Illinois. I have not been riding in many years but would like a new challenge / adventure. I am a Certified Master Clockmaker and have good mechanical skills so even a basket case would be worth a look.
Any pitfalls of which I should be aware or hope of finding an inexpensive starter?  :-?

Hey, we got one on the hook!

Welcome, Handyman Dave. You can most likely find a good, clean R65 runner for between 2.0 - 2.5K.

Watch eBay, Craigslist, Internet BMW Riders, etc. Check tires, normal engine & trans ops, buy good cosmetics and maybe find an Airhead nearby to take along as a second pair of eyes.

Let us know what you dig up.
