Seen in Daytona
« on: March 07, 2011, 07:32:50 AM »
Weather was great this weekend so I took a ride to Daytona to see the sites. Saw this parked near the Harley dealer. Have no idea what it is (other than the roundel) or if I even like it but it is definitely different.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

The drivetrain and forks are from the S1000RR race bike.  Looks odd to me.  But then, I don't get these kinds of customs, like the R32 with an oilhead engine in it.  I don't understand them as motorcycles and I don't understand them as art...  I guess I'm just out of the loop.

Me, too, Darryl.  Just because something can be done doesn't mean it needs to be.  Somebody loves it though.

I wonder what the big round thing is below the headlight?  A hiding place for a couple of Fiamms?

Intake for the ram air that's normally in the center of the fairing on the S1000RR would be my guess.

+1 - the Kawasaki race bikes had a big "nose" their for forcing air into the airbox/plenum at high speeds.

And, I Agree - while it certainly is a curiosity/interesting exercise, I personally don't care for it - waaay too much mass in the wrong places - doesn't have the sleek lines of a motorbike that appeal to me and looks more like a bowling ball, IMHO

P.S.   I bet it still goes like stink in a straight line though - I don't think I'd want to  try serious cornering with that seat/bar setup.
