Bluetooth kit for helmet
« on: February 14, 2011, 10:21:43 PM »
I'm not much for gadgets but I picked up a couple of Parrot SK4000 bluetooth helmet kits and they are fantastic!  Receive and make phone calls, built in FM radio, input for MP3 player, and earpieces/speakers with exceptional clarity, volume, and fidelity.

Both Suraklyn and I gave 'em a quick test yesterday and I was talking to him while he was on his R1200ST at 60 MPH and I could detect no wind noise at all.  We swapped out and I took off on the R1150RT-P with the windshield all the way down and he said he could not hear any background noise at all.  I also tested the automatic volume control feature and it did indeed increase the volume as the ambient noise level got higher with speed.

Just thought I'd give a "two thumbs up" on this just in case anybody was looking for such gear.

That's cool!  I assume they fit full-face helmets, too?  I struggled with this back in 1984, wasting a lot of money!

edit:  rechargable battery?  Only 30 minutes per charge? (per Amazon customer review).

I don't know what the charge length is as the manual doesn't say but I hope it's more than 30 minutes!  That review actually said it had enough charge for a weeks work of 30 minute rides to and from work.  I haven't experienced the problems the most vocal gripers had, maybe I got a good one?

I don't know if the boom mic would be able to fit up under a standard full helmet or not, I don't wear 'em so can't test.

I use a CARDO  Scalarider Q2. FANTASTIC! 45 mins charge time gives me about 8 hrs talk time. Use it every day for 1.5hrs ( music from my mobile) recharge 6 days later !

I think it's suppose to be dry and relatively warm this weekend so I will test it on my commute for the next three days...
