The LS is making progress...
« on: November 13, 2006, 05:47:11 PM »
I finally got the carbs back together and installed and fuel line ran.

Now that I bragged up FedEx ground they must have put my replacement gas tank on a freakin' mule!  Originally their web site showed a projected delivery date of last Saturday, it didn't make it.  Then, I checked their site on Sunday, the projected delivery date was not even there and it showed no tracking activity since it was picked up - I started getting nervous.   :-/  I just checked their site and it arrived in town around noon today so I guess it'll probably get delivered tomorrow.  Still, probably a day sooner than UPS would have made it...

Boy, Justin, it must be nice to have four bikes in your stable!  (What do you mean about the R65 RS as a "garage ornament"?)

I've never had more than two bikes in my possession at one time.  I'm hoping to put Britta in semi retirement once I finally get my R1200C "Classic" and I can start using that bike as my primary source of transportation.  At 138k miles, Britta deserves some rest! [smiley=happy.gif]

I have two R100s that I ride daily, so the R65"RS" got, maybe, 100 miles put on it last year?  My back and the low/narrow bars don't get along well with each othere is probably the main reason... :(

Got my "new" gas tank today, FedEx dufus finally decided he was getting bored driving around with it all week and snuck by and left it on the porch.  My first bad experience with FedEx Ground.  But, it's here in one piece so perhaps I'll be able to see if this pig-in-a-poke will run.  If so, then I can start getting serious with it...  First step will be to POR15 the gas tank, and then tear the seat apart and see if there's enough metal left to do some torch magic on...

Your delivery snafu was probably just the odds finally catching up with you.  You do enough shipping and there will be some 'bad days'...
