Motobins Parts Service
« on: November 01, 2010, 08:32:59 PM »
I placed a parts order with Motobins on 10/25/10 local for me (Phoenix, Arizona), it was ready for them at the opening of business on 10/26/10 .

All parts were in stock .

Today, 11/01/10, the parts arrived in my mailbox at 1715 local .

I placed an order with the local BMW dealer (Victory BMW, Chandler, Arizona) on the morning of 10/26/10, the local dealer says the parts won't be here for two weeks, they are coming from the east coast of the US .

The parts from Motobins traveled 5300 miles, 8500 km, the parts from the east coast of the US have 2600 miles, 4200 km to travel .

I am a very satisfied customer with Motobins, so if you've been hesitant with doing business with them, give them a try, I sincerely doubt you will have a negative experience with them .

Even with shipping costs factored in, the parts were still 35% less costly than ordering them locally .

With some parts no longer available in the US .

It's always exciting to have a box of bike parts arrive at the door, especially when they come from across the sea.  ;D Funny how it is usually less expensive and quicker to order from Motobins than some BMW parts sources here in the USA.  It's a fun web site to look around on too.  Love the actual photos of the parts.

A couple of weeks back, the folks at Visa decided that my order to Motobins was some threat to the security of my credit card and refused to approve my order.  I checked with my bank and they said it was refused by Visa.  I reordered 4 times.  Downright embarrassing. :-[  Funny thing was, I reordered again with a different Visa card and it went through no problem.  Go figure. :-/

When travelling outside your normal territory it is a good idea I guess to phone up your credit card companies and give them a heads up about where you plan on riding and what types of transactions might be coming up. I forgot to do this on my VT. NH trip but I got lucky...my Mastercard service still cancelled an order for artwork from a company in Illinois that they suspected was bogus. It certainly was! Whoever tried to ding my card for over $4500.00 on 3 transactions. They cancelled the card and I had to cut up my credit card as it had been compromised somewhere and wait on a new one. On our trip east to Cape Breton I phoned every institution I could think of to advise them about my future whereabouts and likely purchases...motels, bike places, restaurants etc. I gotta give credit to my MC people as they must know I am a motorcyclist as they didn't question a big purchase from the Micatech people for the hard case saddlebags yet closed the doors instantly on a huge purchase of artwork. Of course the locale of Micatech was inline with my other transactions and Illinois was way off.
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

Bob, I'll be spending Jan through March in Yuma Arizona.  I may be ordering some items from Motobins.  Can you tell me if you have to pay duty or any other taxes when you import from Motobins into the States?

Sue, several times I have had my card refused at a gas station when I am on a trip and gas up multiple times in a day (Visa).  It seems they are suspicious about the multi uses of the card for the same purpose.  For that and other reasons I carry more than one card.

No, the only additional costs to your purchase, are for shipping .

I just priced out a full clutch replacement (In case I need it) and I'm just floored with how low their prices are.  Will most certainly be ordering from them!
