Thanks for covering my back over on the MOA forum!

The bozos who rail against BMW just bug the heck out of me.  Sure, it's hard to find a dealer that works on old bikes, but that's not a BMW exclusive.  Tell me which other bike manufacturer is supplying factory new parts for 1953 bikes (I bought a new fender for mine), and has a free service to tell an owner when his bike was built, with what accessories and where it was sold.

I'm very pleased that BMW does what they can to support the old bikes, and if they are made to feel unappreciated in the effort, the flow might slow or stop.

Uh, since this wasn't a PM to ol' Mike Valenti, how about some background on the CYA subject. Inquiring minds and all that.

I read the whole thread, and I didn't see where you were being attacked, Darryl.

Darryl, I think the cranky poster miss-cited you.  But wanted to support and defend you. He mentioned a quote from someone other than you even though he made the incorrect reference to "Surf City".  I thought your reply was dead-a**-on target by the way.  Don't know why some of these guys get so defensive and opinionated. Ride what makes you happy, it ain't a perfect world it's not going to be for free. I don't blame some of these guys for their ignorance - and I use that word respectfully, some of them go into the Airhead world just not knowing about maintenence or items of focus when buying a used bike over 10 years old.
