An Aussie needing a bike in Canada?
« on: July 15, 2010, 03:02:05 AM »
G'day all, I aven't posted for a while, probably because my poor old Betsy R65 is in storage, and work has had me away.

In October I am flying to Canada (via new york) to be in the wedding party of a friend in Montreal.
since I'll be in Canada, would be a shame not to ride something.
Can anyone advise me on options of where to look for a ride? The usual suspects, ebay, craigslist? I found another site for montreal, but it was in french canadian

Any advice greatly appreciated, hoping to ride for a week to a fortnight if possible, or jsut even a day, and I'll do it on a scooter if i have too (though I will have a pillion).

thanks for your help
Steven

Steven, October in Montreal could be dicey for riding.  It certainly won't be warm.  For a bike you can check on Kijiji, Craigslist and Ebay.  But it may all be in French.  You might also find a rental place if that's your wish.

I've ridden across this whole country and much of the US.  Montreal is the  scariest place to ride because of aggressive drivers who don't give a damn about riders.  I've had several occasions when cars cut in front of me just inches ahead of my front wheel.
