yet another pucker moment
« on: June 23, 2010, 07:42:11 PM »
merging on the the durham freeway, my bike starts to buck and stall. All lights on the dash come on, then all go out except for the gen light. line of cars behind me trying to merge, I'm trying to get off the freeway after having merged on to it. it's raining and smoke is pouring from my bike. i get over somehow without getting hit. and look under my bike to see the source of the smoke-FIRE! I start blowing, then realize I have my helmets shield down, flip it up and blow it out. good thing I don't have any gas leaks. to be continued in the tech. section.

Ahhoooooaaa!!  That's a definite pucker moment!  Never had one of those and hope I never do.  So what happened next? :o

Took the gas tank off and determined that a roadside repair was out of the question, so I called my wife to come get me in the truck, she really is a wonderful person.
I was passed by no less the 10 motorcyclist, maybe 20, and not one stopped.

the only good thing was the smoke kept/warned the people behind me trying to merge that something was amiss. I think.
